Uses of Reverse Osmosis Waste Stream

Reverse Osmosis Concentrate, or reject stream, is highly concentrated in dissolved salts. This stream is usually rejected to the sewer system, septic system or pumped back into the original water source.
There are some ways this water can be used such as:
- Lawn and garden irrigation
- Water supply for toilet tanks
- Washing water, etc.
Before reusing the salty rejected water back into your home, it is important to consider the consequence of reusing it.
Irrigating the lawn is a good option as we are reintroducing the water into the natural cycle and minerals are "sent back to nature". However, it would be a good idea to evaluate the impact of this water will have on your lawn and garden. Salty water can potentially burn your plants and grass.
Using it in a toilet tank is also a great idea but it will depend on the levels of salts it contains. Concentrate water will tend to scale and create salt deposits inside your toilet tanks. This is a potential problem for the draining system of the house as well as makes the water inside the toilet have an unpleasant smell and color.
We design our units to operate at optimum conditions:
- Highest recovery possible minimizing waste
- Lowest pressure possible minimizing power costs (a large pump will require more energy)
- Highest water quality possible
